Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer – Knowstone

Knowstone Parish Council in North Devon is inviting applications for the position of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.
Knowstone is a small parish, situated approximately halfway between South Molton and Tiverton. The parish comprises of three settlements and a number of outlying properties. The parish has approximately 200 residents with a precept of £4,076.
There are 7 Councillors and the Council usually meets bi-monthly on the fourth Tuesday in the Parish Hall (May, July, September, November, January, March).
The Clerk will be responsible for ensuring that the Council conducts its business correctly, providing independent, objective and professional advice and support. You will prepare agendas for meetings of the Council, attend the meetings and record accurate minutes of the proceedings. You will provide all necessary administrative support to the Council to enable it to function effectively. As Responsible Financial Officer, you will manage the administration of the Council’s finances, prepare budgets, monitor expenditure, produce accounting statements and support the annual audit process.
The role of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer is a part time permanent position working around 6 to 8 hours each month. You will be expected to work from home with appropriate internet and telephone connection. Applicants need to be computer literate. Previous experience of clerking for a Parish Council would be preferable although training will be available if required.
This post is being offered with a salary on the Local Salary Scale LC1 (13-17) currently £13.97 to £14.95 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
