Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer – Okehampton Hamlets

Okehampton Hamlets is a small rural parish situated in West Devon and is looking to appoint a part time Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer. The position is currently 10 hours per week but will be reviewed and reduce downwards to a figure yet to be determined. Salary will be on the Local Council scale LC1 (7-17) currently £12.63 to £14.95 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
The ideal candidate will be a good communicator, demonstrate an awareness of governance and good administration skills, combined with the ability to be flexible and attend evening meetings usually held on the first Tuesday of every month, some knowledge of financial management would be an advantage.
The role requires:
Relevant skills for agenda setting and recording of minutes
Good administration and communication skills
Accurate record keeping
Computer literacy including proficiency in Word and Excel
Preparation and monitoring of budgets and managing the Council’s assets and finances
Previous experience of working for a Parish Council or Local Authority would be an advantage although training is available if required
