Barnstaple Town Council is looking for a Communications Officer, who will lead on communication and promotion of the Town Council and its activities. They will need to be the instigator who seeks out the stories, be present across the Town Council and drive the communication process.
It will be vital that the Communication Officer understands the working of the Council to be able to promote the work of the Staff team and the Councillors. They will have proven experience in communications or a public relations role, preferably with local government, public sector or community engagement.
They will be responsible for managing our website, social media accounts and digital content creation. They will be building relationships with the local media and other relevant organisations ensuring that our work is showcased.
Our ideal candidate will possess an attention to detail, strong organisational skills, significant experience in content creation and will think creatively about promoting the work of the Town Council, and the flexibility to work during evenings and weekends.
