LCAS Success for Exmouth and Newton St Cyres 02/06/2021

Exmouth Town Council and Newton St Cyres Parish Council have achieved Quality Awards in the Local Council Award Scheme

Congratulations go to Exmouth Town Council and Newton St Cyres Parish Council for their success in achieving ‘Quality’ status in the latest round of the Local Council Award Scheme.

This achievement recognises that these councils achieve good practice in governance, community engagement and council improvement. Moreover, these councils go above and beyond their legal obligations, leading their communities and continuously seeking opportunities to improve and develop even further.

Exmouth Town Clerk, Lisa Bowman, says: “The award represents the collective efforts of Exmouth Town Council’s staff and councillors in striving to deliver the best service for our community by continually working towards best practice. We are proud of our achievement and encourage other Councils to participate in the scheme as a means of benchmarking how well they are performing across a range of criteria and using that to deliver a process of continual improvement via the different levels of the scheme.”

The Local Council Award Scheme is a peer assessed programme that has been designed to both provide the tools and encouragement to those councils at the beginning of their improvement journeys, as well as promoting and recognising councils that are at the cutting edge of the sector. It is through the sector working together to share best practice, drive up standards and supporting those who are committed to improving their offer to their communities that individual councils and the sector as a whole will reach its full potential.
